RECYCLING AT K.E.
Did you know that at K.E. we can recycle cans, plastic water bottles, paper, and plastic containers! (Please rinse out your containers before you throw them in the big blue bin!)
We also recycle pens, felts and mechanical pencils. There is a box in the hallway for recycling any writing utensils that are used up. Let's recycle as many of these as possible to help the environment.
What about batteries you ask? Well yes, we recycle those as well. Look for the box in the hallway next to the utensils recycle box.
Act now before it's too late!!!

School Greening
In 2017-2018 we are continuing our commitment to greening our school grounds. Ms. Matson is the teacher contact for these efforts, and Thu Trieu is the representative for the PAC. Last year students worked hard to keep our school looking good. In the fall they cleaned out the pond, and in the spring weeded, and topped up the garden beds. Gardens were seeded and plants were planted. Ms. McKenzie is in support of the upkeep of the gardens and shared that "Students should feel as though they’re the protectors of the bright and colourful gardens."
This year the grade 7 classes are going to help clean out the pond as they have in the past. Brittany Haugen the Aboriginal Education teacher who worked at KE a few years ago will be coming to KE along with some grade 9 students from JL Crowe Secondary on Friday October 13th. The Tule of the pond will be harvested and students will enjoy a short presentation, traditional story and snack. There's even a rumor that students may be served Brittany's epic bannock with huckleberry jam made from locally harvested berries. All of these activities tie into place our natural resources, and traditional ways of the first people of our area.
Our green school gardens and grounds make a great classroom in the outdoors!
Trash Rant
There is way too much garbage on our school grounds! We need to start picking up our trash. If we don’t, then our play area is going to start to smell horrible. Here’s how students can help.
